Troubled strategic consultancy, McKinsey & Company, has announced it has bought digital builder, VLT Labs, in a move that is reportedly all about it enhancing its Digital McKinsey presence in Kuala Lumpur. "We've decided to make Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur one of our lighthouse studios in the region," said Michael Gryseels, senior partner and leader of McKinsey Digital Labs for APAC (Asia-Pacific). "The reason why we're excited about Southeast Asia is because it is one of the largest and fastest growing consumer markets."
Added Nimal Manuel managing partner, Malaysia, McKinsey & Company: "Our digital practice here has more than doubled in the last twelve months. By next December they [McKinsey's digital and analytics staff] will make up about one-third of McKinsey's Malaysia service." The announcement was made at McKinsey's inaugural Digital and Analytics Forum in Kuala Lumpur. The acquisition means Digital McKinsey now has more than 50 designers in Asia alone - a sixth of its 300 total worldwide.
