News, elucidation and outlooks
on strategy consulting

McKinsey has proved the grass really isn’t always greener, after re-hiring a top consultant that was initially lured away by the bright lights of banking. Veteran financial services consultant, Reet Chaudhuri, lasted only ten months at Standard Chartered, where he was a director in its central strategy team. eFinancialCareers, which first reported the story spoke to one head-hunter who said: “People from consultancies, especially top-performing senior guys, often feel too constricted working in-house for just one bank. Some of them miss the flexibility that comes with consulting for different banks.” After graduating in the 1990s, Chaudhuri worked for KPMG and Arthur Anderson, before moving to Boston Consulting Group in 2007 as a project lead. He moved to McKinsey the following year and to Oliver Wyman in 2016 before joining Standard Chartered.
