AlixPartners, which is handling the administration of fashion chain Jaeger, has dismissed a bid from suppliers bid to buy it because the retailer’s trademark has apparently already been sold. According to trade magazine, Drapers, the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group bought the brand name as well as its debt from Jaeger’s former owner, private equity firm Better Capital, in March. The news follows Edinburgh Woolen Group previously announcing that it would stock the Jaeger brand in its new department store concept. César Araújo, owner of Portuguese textile group Calvelex, which led the failed bid said: “We’re questioning the thinking behind selling the intellectual property of the Jaeger brand name before the company went into administration, as the value of the company to potential bidders would be greatly reduced.”
