Justin Whitmore, a former consultant at McKinsey & Company has been appointed Tyson Foods’ first ever chief sustainability officer. The newly-created role will see Whitmore place sustainability at the heart of the business, and he will report directly to the company’s president and CEO, Tom Hayes. “I am pleased to welcome Justin to the Tyson Foods family,” said Hayes. “We created this new role as part of our commitment to invest in our future through sustainability initiatives while funding them in the present through a best-in-class approach to continuous improvement.” He added: ““We believe he will not only drive change at Tyson, but across our industry as he partners with the many important stakeholders in our supply chain and food system.” Whitmore was most recently associate partner at McKinsey between 2014-17.
