Johan Gott, principal at AT Kearney in Washington has told the Financial Times that financial services companies have pressed the ‘pause button’ since president Trump was elected, and he is recommending clients undergo ‘war gaming’ scenarios to understand the impact of different levers that the administration could use. These could, he suggest, include such things as how to respond to more aggressive enforcement of existing rules, or higher tariffs on goods and services. Gott claims clients are currently freezing offshoring initiatives, or not announcing investments outside the US at all. “What we’re all looking at is an incredibly high level of uncertainty around this issue, larger than in many decades,” he said.
