Troubled Air India – the government-owned airline that is currently being kept afloat via a central bail-out – is believed to be looking for a consultancy to help in plan its short-to-long term strategy. In a just-issued Request for Proposals document, the airline says it needs help to “review existing internal processes,” and “prepare a business plan strategy,” as well as run a benchmarking exercise and a staff engagement programme. The airline wants to become profitable by 2019 – two years ahead of its original 2021-22 schedule, and already plans to add another 100 (smaller sized) planes to its fleet, to help it compete in the growing domestic market.
