Maya DiRado will compete as a swimmer in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics this summer, but will retire immediately afterwards and join McKinsey & Company in the fall.
The swimmer, 23, graduated from Stanford University in 2014 and will become a business analyst at the prestigious consulting firm. The firm offered her the position 18 months ago, but she asked to defer her start date so she could train for the Olympic trials.
“At 23, I’m one of the older ones,” DiRado told the Washington Post. “Because this is my last one, I feel like I’ll try to help people appreciate what they’re doing.”
